My First Hermès Birkin and Kelly

I have always secretly wanted a Birkin and/or a Kelly from Hermès but was never gutsy enough to walk into an Hermès boutique and ask for one despite me being a very good customer of theirs. There was something about receiving the first Birkin or Kelly as a special gift from someone that I could not get over - and I am still waiting for that special one. A very nice salesperson I know in a particular store had always said to me if I want one I can just walk in and ask him but I never did. It wasn't until recently when one of my friends asked me whether I could get her a bright coloured Birkin or Kelly the fire of my love for Hermès was relit.

So there I was in the store (knowing they had a delivery the previous day and the salesperson I was speaking to had put one on hold for me) shopping for a Birkin! In front of me was this lovely 30cm Birkin in Argyle colour Veau Tadelakt leather! All I felt was a rush of blood towards my head and all I could think of was I WANT IT. Walking it home was like parading the streets of London feeling like I was the luckiest girl in the world at that moment. Shame my friend didn't like it as it is not a bright colour - I am still considering whether to keep it or sell it.

What I found really special about this particular Birkin is the hardware on the bag. The salesperson told me that he had never seen a buckle like this as this could be a new style the workshop had produced. It is called guilloche and from my limited ability of Google research I have only found another one of the same hardware on a Kelly in the same colour leather! This is another reason I am thinking of keeping this Birkin.

The colour of this bag is so versatile I personally don't think you can go wrong wearing anything with it and it is the kind of colour you would wear no matter what your age is. To stress again, I am completely in love with it!

Talking about being in love with it, I would call my next Kelly a beautiful encounter and am in complete awe of its essence. So there I was with a friend catching the early shopping hours in a particular department store the day after I bought the Birkin. Casually strolling towards Hermès and what 'hurt' my eyes was a woman looking at this lovely 50cm Kelly luggage bag. She was considering buying it so we walked over with a slight hope of her not buying it. My eyes were locked onto the bag like a tiger locking onto its target. And like any women shopping for the same thing, the tension of wanting it grows when someone wants the same thing in your hands. She begged and begged her boyfriend (who was standing there with disbelief)  to buy her this Kelly but he was firm and kept saying no. I thought to myself the moment they walked away, this is my lucky day! I had no second thoughts as soon as I got my hands on this gigantic Kelly and said to the salesperson, 'I will get it' with the firmest voice you could hear from me. So it was bought and brought home and I could not wait to try it on!!!

This Kelly is in a lovely colour called Rose Jaipur, the exact colour I would associate with the 'Pink City' - Jaipur in India. I don't usually do pink but this shade of pink has won me over completely. You may say, what an impractical size but for me - a person who travels a lot this is a more than perfect bag for me!

On a last note to my amazing two days' encounter with these two sensational bags, I do realise that I am in a very lucky position to be able to walk into Hermès boutiques and purchase these bags and I have a feeling my hunt for Birkins and Kellies is not going to stop here... I do hope that I can share with you my future experiences with these bags.

Hello again!

So I have been chaotically busy lately and have had no time to post anything so here's a refreshment post.

I'm still exploring various looks and still have no clue what kind of look I'm going for, but one thing I know - I'll never stick with one look because it just is so much fun dressing up!

These two looks were taken during my trip back to China this Christmas.

The first look is one of those looks I always like and keep going back to, I love the idea of wearing a dress under a nice coat. It is very wearable look to go for, and if your legs can survive the near freezing temperature then go for it!
The second look has to be one of my favourite looks of all time! I love this tucking-your-jumper-into-high-waisted-trousers 60's look and it makes me feel very confident! The Céline bag and the Louboutin flats are brilliant in matching any outfit and are two of my greatest investments of 2012!

Wearing:
(First look)
House of Holland sunglasses
Stella McCartney coat
Alexander McQueen dress
Olympia Le Tan clutch
Christian Louboutin Fifi pumps

(Second look)
Louis Vuitton silk scarf
Ralph Lauren cashmere cable knit jumper
Erdem trousers
Céline classic box bag
Christian Louboutin flats
Hermès bracelet

Wedge Love

I know men have this hatred of wedges but they just are so comfortable! I'm wearing my recent purchase from Solestruck.com, Jil Sander Navy wedge shoes. They are injected with ultimate cool-factor and is great for summer as they have little holes all over them to let your little feet breathe!
It's finally sunny and warm here recently so I thought I might brighten things up a little. I'm carrying a Jeffrey Campbell neon yellow iPad case, it's a great gadget accessory for the summer! I went OTT and bought three different neon colours, they all came with strap so you can wear it across your body.
They all came with an awesome way-too-big-for-an-iPad-cover dust bag. I think I will use two of them for other things like maybe turning it into a laundry bag, etc.

Leggings I'm wearing is again Been by D'heygere's banana print leggings from last year and it's still one of my favourites!

Enough of the rambling, I miss writing a blog so this is an update post because it's Friday relaxing time now!

Day Final - The Finale

This is my last day of the one month challenge! I'm going to miss doing this!

It was an extremely sunny day today so I decided to put on a dress!

I have had an amazing one month of dressing up and put up an outfit everyday and I'm so glad lots of my clothes got to see the light again after so long. I will keep this blog up, random posts of fashion thoughts etc. will be here. So don't you worry I will still be around!

Day 30 - The Whites

I love wearing all white from time to time, it boosts my confidence!

As I promised, I changed my bag today! This Balenciaga City tote is so much lighter than my Celine bag! I like this baby blue tote a lot, you don't see Balenciaga with much pastel colour. It was love at first sight when I was just browsing in their Shanghai boutique.

One of the best things to pair with all white outfit is wearing nude shoes, in my opinion; because the colour doesn't over power the whites.

Day 28 - The Formal

My hall of residence had a St Patrick's day formal tonight so this is my effort of stylishly wearing something green! I got this Mary Katrantzou dress for my Christmas present and I just haven't had a chance to wear it until today. I have to say I am absolutely in love with Mary Katrantzou's designs every season! Her designs shows the feminine side of women perfectly whilst at the same time make a woman feel very powerful.

Those with sharp eyes will see my Charlotte Olympia box clutch, it was a recent purchase of mine. It came with three different pouches for you to style with your outfit so tonight I went for the black/cream one so the outfit doesn't get too busy with patterns and colours.

Day 23 - The Wildfox

Today's blog is called Wildfox for the cool Wildfox t-shirts. I have multiple Wildfox t-shirts in my wardrobe because of the awesome graphics and the extreme comfort! They are so comfortable sometimes I wear them as pyjama tops. Wildfox came under the radar in the fashion world when celebrities starts to wear their love potion number 9 t-shirt. They are a celebrities' choice of casual tees.

There is a great selection of wildfox styles at AdHoc on King's Road, London. Pop in and have a look!

Day 22 - The Painting

Lesson learnt: never trust the weather man! I thought it was going to be sunny today so I dug out my pink fluorescent bag by Diane De Maria bonnie bag last night and got ready to embrace the sun. But it wasn't sunny at all today.

Long story short, Diane De Maria herself as an artist was inspired by her grandfather's painting Le Final and artistically put them onto a bag - Bonnie bag. This bag is one of those bag that boosts your confidence and it is extremely eye catching (in a good way).

Read more about this bag at the Diane De Maria website.

Day 21 - The Jumper

Sunday means relaxing / watching relatives playing hockey day!

Being in the UK, you'll know you'll always end up needing a jumper with you just in case the weather changes! So you grab a jumper when it's sunny and wrap it around your neck in case of the sun decides to play hide and seek with you! However, today the sun was nice and friendly I never actually wore the jumper. Again it's one of my cable knits from Ralph Lauren for a classic laid back look.

Ralph Lauren oxford shirt and white cable knit

Day Twenty - The Seaside

I think I need to invest in a MacBook Air if I keep on doing the amount of travelling I have been doing recently to be able to keep the blog updated everyday!

So I had a lovely trip down to Lymington this weekend, with the amazing weather I had such a relaxing time! I packed nice pastel coloured clothes for the trip and I think they go really well with the sea side scene... The jeans I'm wearing there is a new purchase from Rag & Bone, I have to admit they are quite comfortable and very cool with the colour blocking patterns. It also makes me want to go to the gym more due to the white-make-you-look-chubby effect! Haha

Day Seventeen - The Dots

You may say the polka dots are so last season but I started wearing polka dots before it got popular and it is a very 'me' thing I guess. I intend to keep wearing the polka dots like I have before they got popular last year.
I love the double dots here!

I am again wearing an equipment shirt here, I have a whole stack of them in my wardrobe. Equipment silk shirts are so comfortable and classic in their styles they'll never go out of date! I strongly recommend you start a collection of Equipment shirts!

Day Sixteen - The Geometrics

Such a lovely sunny day today here and it's happy day!!! I realised how much I love my leggings and how many pairs I actually own!!!

From the picture, the top looks like it doesn't fit but it does. It just has a square shape. This top was one of my recent 'digs' from ASOS - it's so cute!

The leggings are by Holly Fulton, I adore her prints! They are very cleverly designed to define your figure well!

Day Fifteen - The Rocco

So I said I was going to crack out my sunglasses when it's sunny, I woke up in a sun-filled room and the first thought was to get my shades out!

If you have been following my blog you'd realised by now I have been wearing one bag a week - the choice this week is the Alexander Wang Rocco brass studded bag. There have been mixed reviews of this bag on the internet from various fashion blogs and I also have a love-hate relationship with this bag.

It was a huge hit when it first came out and I had been salivating over them ever since and I finally bought one last year. It looks extremely trendy and has been an all time celebrity choice since it came out but I don't understand how people can swear by this bag! Ok, take for granted celebs have body guards and cars so they don't necessary need to carry the bag all the time but this bag is SOOOO heavy with the solid studs at the bottom! When you actually carry this bag it looks nothing like it does on the web because you'll never actually fill this bag up because it is so heavy all you think of when packing this bag is to minimise the contents.

Well I guess maybe people have strong arms!

Now the sunglasses! I am wearing the Cutler and Gross vintage faux tortoise shell sunglass with the model number of 0156 bought from Dover Street Market. I have consulted the Cutler and Gross boutique assistance and was told that this is a very rare model! It's a very cool model and almost goes with everything you're wearing and I love it!

Day Thirteen - The Star

So I had a busy weekend in London studying and shopping and getting my birthday present!
This was what I was wearing on Saturday when studying. I may have worn the same jumper again but hey you'll let me off this time!

So this was my birthday present, it's not just a star! It's a star that twists! This is a part of collection by Solange Azagury-Partridge called 24/7, the detail you can see here on the picture in the middle sections of the stars are actually indented! A very cool collection indeed! I'll put the link below so you can have a look at the high definition pictures.

Day Twelve - The Loafers

I had three minutes to get dressed today! Gosh this is getting harder and harder everyday! I always find it easier to wear loafers with something classic.

The loafers I'm wearing today is by Salvatore Ferragamo but a collection called Ferragamo's creation. They basically remake the old models with the techniques used at that time. Mine are hand-woven raffia loafers and they're COLOURFUL!!! Dover Street Market stocks them if you want your hands on a pair of vintage Ferragamo shoes!

Day Five - The Houndstooth

Bit late today but I'll let myself off, here is my outfit for today.

I used to find houndstooth hard to wear, they always made me look older and I'm sure no one likes themselves looking older! I guess the key to 'energise' the houndstooth is wear bursts of colour with it - I went for green/turquoise today. I think it works, do you?

I love Henry Holland's pretty polly tights, they are so playful!

Day Four - The Raspberry

Here we are, if you look closely you'll realise I'm wearing raspberry print leggings! I really like the look of wearing a mac and funky leggings. It's simple, practical and most of all, pretty!

You may have realised I've been wearing the same Mulberry bag for the last few days, it's just way too practical for me not to carry it when I've got plenty of lectures to go to! - definitely an investment piece!

Tie up the whole look by slipping into a pair of comfortable flats.

Viola! You don't compromise style for comfort or vice versa!
